Satisfy Your Cravings: A Trip to Sapporo's Pie Queen for the Perfect Apple Pie

As a passionate explorer of culinary delights, I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem in Sapporo that deserves every bit of praise. Nestled in the heart of this bustling city is 'Pie Queen,' a quaint bakery that has mastered the art of pie-making. Today, I want to share my delightful experience with their signature dish - the Apple Pie.

Discovering the Best Apple Pie in Sapporo: A Visit to Pie Queen.

First Impressions

Cutting into the pie, the crust gave way with a perfect, flaky texture, revealing a filling that was a harmonious blend of sweetness and tartness. The apples, locally sourced and fresh, retained a slight crispness, pairing wonderfully with the rich, buttery flavor of the crust. Each bite was a delightful dance of textures and flavors, a testament to the skill and care put into its creation.

What makes Pie Queen's apple pie stand out is the balance it strikes. It's sweet but not overly so, allowing the natural flavors of the apples to shine through. The spices used are subtle yet effective, enhancing the taste without overpowering it. This pie is not just a dessert; it's a celebration of simple, quality ingredients coming together to create something extraordinary.

Upon entering Pie Queen, I was greeted by the sweet aroma of baking, an olfactory promise of the goodness to come. The cozy ambiance, with its warm lighting and charming decor, set the perfect stage for what was to be an unforgettable pie experience.

But let's talk about the star of the show: the Apple Pie. This isn't just any apple pie; it's a culinary masterpiece. The first thing that struck me was its appearance - a golden crust with a lattice top, beautifully browned and inviting. It's a pie that doesn't just sit on a plate; it commands attention.

History

It all started with an encounter with Kaguraju, an apple pie specialty store established in 1984. When the former owner was about to close the store due to old age, Yamatani, who was in love with apple pie at the time, decided to take over the secret recipe and signboard and keep it alive. And in 2012, he decided to open "Kaguraju" at its current location. In 2015, he opened "Pie Queen" as a brand that challenges the possibilities of new pies while preserving the traditions from the time of its founding.

Commitment to Ingredients

Starting with apples grown in Hokkaido, they use the same cooking broth that has been passed down from generation to generation since its establishment in 1984, which is the key to the depth of flavor of our apple pies. In addition to apple pie, we make our original pies by hand every day using carefully selected seasonal ingredients.

Pie Queen is a must

In conclusion, if you find yourself in Sapporo, a visit to Pie Queen is a must for any dessert lover. Their apple pie isn't just the best in the city; it's a contender for the best I've ever had. It's a delightful reminder of how traditional baking, done right, can produce something truly exceptional. Pie Queen, you have my heart, and most definitely my taste buds!
