Kaishindo's sweets are famous not just for their exceptional artistry and rich flavors, but also for holding a significant place in the life of the iconic baseball star Shohei Ohtani, who hails from this area.
The roots of Kaishindo can be traced back to the Enpo era (1637–1681), a period when the area was supported by the Date clan and the lord of Iwayado Castle. The castle's name was given to the confectionery, representing the backing and motivation of the regional lord. Throughout the years, Iwayado Yokan has developed and progressed, preserving its cultural heritage for more than three centuries.
Shohei Ohtani has enjoyed this jelly since childhood, and it has recently gained immense popularity! Kaishindo’s apple jelly truly captures the authentic flavor of real apples and is absolutely delicious!
Made with luxurious, high-quality "Sun Fuji" apples from Esashi, the jelly incorporates generous chunks of fruit and even some grated apple, providing a delightful texture. You'll find plenty of pieces of fruit throughout!
As you savor it, the rich aroma of apples fills your mouth from the moment you open the container. If you visit Japan, be sure to grab some as a souvenir. It’s also available online in the U.S., but only through select shops.
The crunchy texture and sweetness of Esashi apples are simply the best!
This apple jelly is actually a seasonal treat, it sells out quickly, so make sure to stock up while you can!
